• Synthesizing and review the state of the art of existing information on ocean acidification studies in Latin America.
  • To encourage the implementation, maintenance and long-term calibration data for the carbonate system parameters in the Latin America.
  • Empower members of LAOCA Network in the different lines of action (e.g. observation, experimentation and modeling).
  • Standardize measurement methods and experimental protocols of the carbonate system, focusing on the generation of high quality databases.
  • Consolidate the use of a protocol of “best practices” for observation and experimentation on the theme of ocean acidification.
  • Acting on articulation and communication between global programs (e.g., GOA-NO, IOCCP, OAICC), regional (e.g. Aphrica, BrOA) and local acidification.
  • Determine and evaluate the local ocean acidification scenarios and regional levels to different types of marine ecosystems (e.g., estuaries, coastal, open sea, OMZ, etc).
  • Facilitate access to infrastructure and equipment between the institutions and the member countries of LAOCA Network.
  • To facilitate the exchange of students between institutions and courses Postgraduate that is part of the LAOCA Network.
  • Develop a scientific outreach program to sensitize the general public about the problem of ocean acidification.
  • To promote cooperation projects among member countries of LAOCA Network.
  • Promote the inclusion of the issue of ocean acidification on the political agenda of the member countries of LAOCA network, and even through the pursuit of cooperation agreements among member countries.
